And here they come . . . our four new missionaries (top to bottom): Elder Tapia from Salt Lake City, UT; Elder Hatch from Blackfoot, ID; Sister Layton from San Jose, CA, and Elder Green from Kaysville, UT. All are assigned to work in the Spanish program.


We love this first handshake! I know many of them are nervous to meet us for the first time, but it usually only takes a few minutes to feel at ease with each other. Our impressions were that we have four top-notch missionaries who will quickly be up to speed . . .

Posing after the luggage is claimed, we head to Pizzeria Ora for the traditional first taste of Chicago deep-dish pizza.

Tuesday is then finished off by meeting up at the mission home for interviews and orientation and dinner and bed. Our new missionaries spend the night in the mission home and we all start early on Wednesday morning with breakfast for unpredicatable numbers. Our new missionaries, the Assistants, trainers who come in to meet their new companions and missionaries who "wander" over all find something to eat as they enjoy meeting the new missionaries and visiting all around.
