Buenos dias!
Good Morning!
Quiero ponerles a la fecha con todo que me esta sucediendo en la mision.
I want to update you all on everything that's happening with me in the mission.
So we have some really solid investigators right now:
1. Oscar Versanez: He's a 30-something year old guy who is the boyfriend of Lenicka, the daughter of Hermano Marinas who is the High Priest group leader for our ward. He has been listening to missionaries for the past year or so and is really wanting to progress. His struggle is being able to come partake of the sacrament each week, as his work won't permit him come early enough. He had a baptismal date and was supposed to get baptized the 26th of this month, but says he doesn't yet feel ready to do it. We are going to continue meeting with him, and we pray that he gets that assurance about his readiness to get baptized.
2. Peter and Paola: Elder Aguila found this couple while he was on exchanges with Elder John, our Zone Leader. We've been teaching them every tuesday night and Peter seems really interested in reading and progressing. We committed them to come to church this week and we're really excited to see them there. They have been fellowshipped a lot by Hermano Luis Cortez who is a member that lives really close to them. Paola is a bit eccentric and airy. She likes to talk to us and does learn but she has a bubbly personality and often fails to read or take initiative. We are going to teach her about the importance of reverence and the seriousness of the gospel. We are hoping to commit Peter to baptism very soon and we'd like to do the same with Paola.
3. Cesar and Julio: Two sons of Maria Flores, a less active who has recently begun to reactivate herself. The both of them are very receptive and very open to learning from us. We have invited them to be baptized on the 5th of March, and we believe that will come to pass on time. We need to meet with them a little more because they have some fluctuating schedules.
4. Mareli: She is the sister of Flor, Alma and Angel, all of whom I have taught and helped baptize. She has started coming to church over the past few weeks and is willing to commit to read and pray about the things that we've taught her. She is very sincere in her desire to know the truth and is actively searching to know that what we are teaching her is true. She has seen the changes that have happened in her sisters' lives and wants the same for herself and her daughter. I believe that when she gets baptized she will be the strongest member of all of them, and will help her sisters out even.
As I said in my earlier e-mail, we also found a man named Elvis on monday, who we taught on his doorstep and who similarly seems truly interested. His wife has listened to us before, he said, and has gone to church. We are excited to see the Lord work in his life. We also found a woman named Romelle on Monday but she speaks better english than spanish so we transferred her over to the english elders.
This week has been really great, and we're excited for the week to come. Tomorrow is Zone Meeting and I have an interview with President Doll for the first time in a long time and I'm really excited because I love every time I get to meet with him.
Well, I've got to go. Sorry I didn't get your e-mails until just now.
I love you guys.
Elder J.
