Hola con Elder Green

Hola!
Como les van? I miss you guys, but things are going great here. I can't type very fast because my hands are frozen! I just got back from an endowment session in the Provo Temple. It was amazing. God has an incredible way of answering prayers and I know that we as His children are his first priority. I Love the work that I am engaged in and by now we are really getting underway. I know this is God's work and His Gospel, I've seen too many miracles in this short time for it to be otherwise.
Now to business: Rylee that is so awesome that you had a chance to speak with Brother Eyring. He is an incredible man and I know that he is directly called of God and has a very personal relationship with Him. I miss you and yes I will write you today too. Bryce same goes for you, I'll write more later. I'm really proud of you and hope that your wrestling goes well. I know you can go places with this if you apply yourself. You can do it and don't give up even when it gets hard.
Mom and Dad, Thank you for your package, if you've sent multiple, I've gotten the one with the andes cookies and postcards. Which of you picked out the postcards? :) All my roommates and the guys in my zone were laughing at them. I'll definitely be making good use of those. I got my ring and thanks for remembering my Armour of God coin. I love it. Packages usually take between 3-4 days to receive btw.
Immediate and extended family: I'm so grateful to all of you for all the support you guys are to me. You have no Idea how much I love all of you and appreciate how close our family is. I thank you for any prayers on my behalf and I want you to know that I love this work and wouldn't choose to be anywhere other than the MTC at this point, and there's nowhere I would rather be headed than Chicago.
Friends: Hey everyone I love and miss you! Keep me posted on how life goes. Anyone who gets a mission call or anything exciting like that, I expect you to write me a letter that night! You guys are all so awesome and all of you are in my prayers. I hope your lives are going as well as mine is, and know that if it isn't, God is always waiting to hear and answer your prayers.
So the basic rundown of my district:
Me and my companion Elder Hatch are headed to IL Chicago N., Elders Moore (from Montana), Jackson (Ontario Canada), Miller (Alamo, CA), Powell (South Jordan, UT), and Hermana Rust (Burley, ID) are all going to Tuscon Arizona Spanish. Hermana Buckner is going to Chile Santiago North, and Hermana Landeen is going to Chile Santiago West.
Our teachers are incredible. Hermano Zirkle is a huge football player who goes to the Y and is a spiritual giant whose spirit is larger than his body (which by no means is small). But he's a very soft-spoken giant. Hermana Manley is nothing like her name would indicate. She's a convert to the Church from Honduras and has some incredible insights into missionary work from being on both ends of it.
Elder Holland spoke to us on thanksgiving and him and his wife are so amazing together. They are for sure the perfect couple. They were so nice and had so many insights into our purpose and how to be better people, much less better missionaries. Something that Elder Holland said really struck me. To paraphrase, he said: Live so obediently and so far within the laws of the gospel, that it doesn't occur to you that the law even exists.
I thought that was a very inspiring quote. Also, Hermano Zirkle showed me this scripture which has become my unofficial theme: D&C 50:23 "And that which doth not edify is not of God, and is darkness." I really like that scripture cause it reminds me to think and act only in ways that are really building myself and others up and closer to God.
By now we are teaching the first and second lessons in english, and we know how to make a door contact, obtain referrals, get to know someone, and teach all of lesson one and most of lesson two in Spanish. The progress we've made in the last couple of weeks has been amazing.
I've seen tons of people here that I know from school: Elder Austin Facer, Elder Taylor Bingham, Elder Colton Simonsen, Elder Chris Luke, Elder Skylar Swallow, Elder Johnston (forgot his first name), and a bunch of others I can't really think of.
The last thing that I want to mention which is gospel related is something I heard here that I hadn't really thought of and struck me hard. The people we are going out there to teach, all the people in the world, they are on Our side. They fought on our side in the war in heaven and they are our brothers and sisters. They are captive by the enemy and they do not even recognize it. That's why it's so important to love everyone. Because they are valiant souls. They just need to remember that.
I love all of you and I miss you a bit. Thanksgiving was not nearly as good as it is homemade, and Grandpa, there was no cranberry sauce to be found!
Haha but that aside, everything has been amazing and uplifting. My time is up but I will write in more detail later.
With my love and prayers,
Elder Jordan S. Green
