Hola mi familia,
Como estan? I hope everything is going well back at home. I got to talk to Mom and it sounds like everything is going well and everyone seems to be doing good. I'm glad Grandma T. is back at home, I'm praying for her and hope she's doing well. I hope the best for all of you.
Don't worry about me, I'm fine. Tuesday was the surgery, it went really well. Though it was pretty intimidating when the doctor pulled out the completely unsophisticated "medical mallet and chizel." Yesterday was no fun as far as pain goes but today is just fine. I'm going in for a checkup and will get my foot re-bandaged at 3:30 today.
Thank you guys for all the thought that went in to the 12 days of Christmas and all your letters. It's been really fun for me and the guys opening stuff. This morning we opened the Tums and the two books. You have no idea how perfect the timing was on that. My companion really needed the Tums haha. I really liked President Monson's book on the spirit of Christmas.
We heard from Elder Maynes of the 70 on tuesday night. He was a nice guy and had some pretty cool messages about the three greatest gifts that God has given us, namely: John 3:16- His Only Begotten Son; 2- The Gift of the Holy Ghost; 3- The Gift of Eternal Life, which gift is the greatest gift that God could bestow upon the children of men, for in that gift lies all that he hath.
Not a whole lot of news for you beyond the surgery.
We got some really cool advice earlier this week. We were told that:
"A day in a mission without miracles is not a day in the mission."
I thought that was really cool because of how true it is. I haven't gone a day without seeing some miracle, large or small, wherein God displayed His hand.
I have my first real investigator! Her name is Ruthie. I'm meeting with each of them on the phone and doing lessons and getting them to make commitments. Ruthie is an amazing woman from MI. She really wants to find the truth and is willing to work as hard as she needs to in order to get it. I love working with her and I really think that she could be baptized within the next month or so if she really dedicates herself to it. I'm reading with her out of the Bible and plan on teaching her the Plan of Salvation on saturday.
Oh before I forget: Brookhaven Elders' Quorom, thank you guys for the letter and the picture. I appreciate the support and love that I feel from all of you and the ward in general.
So I saw a ton of new people come in yesterday, Elder Cowser being one of them. I saw him at dinner and he seemed to be a little dazed (kinda like we all were when we got here). All in all though he looked excited to be there. Let Bro and Sis Cowser know, cause I don't know if he'll get a chance to write them in the next day or two. I'll watch out for him though.
My district must really have some great things to accomplish in our missions. We have been more tried and tested than any other district that we've heard of. Yesterday while I was resting, yet another one of us got quarantined. Plus we had an appendicitis scare with one of the hermanas, but it was a fake. We think. And tomorrow we lose one of our teachers and are getting a new one. It's been tough here. But it's also been an experience that I won't want to leave.
I love all of you. I want you all to know that God lives and loves us more than we can comprehend and I've seen such an outpouring of his love since I've been here that I am in awe. It reminds me of the song Amazing Grace and I Stand All Amazed.
I'll write more in letters.
Mucho amor,
Elder Jordan Green.
