Buenos Dias, nuevas de Chicago

Bueno, como estan todos alli? Ojala que todo salga bien para todos. Esta semana ha sido muy divertido y tambien preparatorio para las semanas siguientes.

I hope everyone is doing well and that this week has been as good for all of you as mine has been for me. This week has been AWESOME. I came into the area with 1 real investigator and small prospects. We got a referral however from a member by the name of Flor Ramirez. She is really cool and super ready. We had the first lesson with her and at the end committed her to a baptismal date on the 7 August. She went to church the following sunday and was really excited and was telling the sister missionaries about how she can't wait. Her little brother is also listening to us, and next time we can pass by we are going to commit him to a baptismal date too. He's 10 and he already tells all his friends that he's a Mormon now. We had another really cool experience where we were passing by old investigators and seeing if any were interested again. We went by an apartment of a lady who had been taught for a long time. Her children were members of the church, but her and her husband were not. So we decided to see if anything had changed in her attitude toward the church. She opened the door and told us that she had had all of the lessons at one point and that both of her sons had served missions. She then told us that she now wanted to be baptised and that she wanted to know how to do that. We told her we'd re-pass on the lessons and that afterward we could baptize her. She said alright and that she would be calling her son that night, who is a branch president in Woodstock, to tell him the good news. How cool is that? So we are going to set the date on wednesday when we go by. It's like this area is just bursting to convert, but no one is willing to put in the effort. I have noticed that there are a lot of people dropped for no reason and there seems to proportionally be very little happening over the past few months. I've noticed a trend that a lot of Elders come to the city and get lazy. I plan on being the City Elder who puts his whole heart into it and helps in the conversion of as many as possible.

I realize that I have failed to write letters to the recipients of this e-mail. I'm just really really short on time this past week, but I will write for sure this week.

So much has happened that I'm at a loss for words. I just love this place. The people are great, the area is ready, God is on our side, and nothing can stop us. It's really an incredible opportunity to be here. I'm so stoked to see what happens.

Oh, remember the almost-tornado that we drove through a few weeks back? Well this time we biked through a torrential downpour from the furthest part of our area to our apartment. It took us about a half hour and when I got back... well EVERYTHING was soaked. It didn't help that it was 9 so there wasn't any time to sit around and dry off. It was seriously crazy. Cars could barely see you because it was dark and monsoon-like conditions, and you are weaving in and out of traffic because it's illegal to ride bikes on the sidewalk. Loads of fun. Like seriously some of the most fun I've had on my mission.

Well I don't have much time left, but I'll write more in letters.

Con mucho amor,

Elder Jordan Green
