This past week went by way too fast.
Brief overview:
Thursday: Weekly planning session, knocking doors, an appointment.
Friday: Missionary work all day! This is the only day in the past week we got to dedicate all 8 hours to doing real work!
Saturday: General Conference! No time to go back to our area, did some work with our members.
Sunday: More General Conference! Got to finish the day doing some good old-fashioned work!
Monday: Leadership Training in Naperville: Didn't get back until like 6:00pm and had a migraine and felt sick so didn't get to do much work.
Tuesday: District Meeting, did some service projects for a few people, and finished the day off with an awesome lesson with a family that we have on baptismal date.
It's been a lot of work. I can't believe how quickly it seemed to sprint by. Time flies when you least want it to. I think that in my time serving with Elder Lemke, I have grown up a lot and I've learned many lessons that otherwise would have been impossible. I really am not looking forward to the day that he goes home. He is a great missionary and there really are not many missionaries of his caliber out here. I hope that I can use his service as a model for how I serve others in the future. I also am not very excited for my own time as a missionary to draw to a close. I am excited to see my family and friends again, but I have rather enjoyed my time here.
I'd like to share with you a few things that have happened recently. Yesterday, as we went out to knock doors, we felt guided to a certain street. When we got there, a man came to the door named Raul. Raul found out that day that his grandmother who had taken care of him for a lot of his life had just passed away. He was disdraught, and had we come earlier or later we may not have had the opportunity to find him. As it was, we had a very spiritual experience with him and we all felt edified. Hopefully we will hear from him again in the near future.
We also put another family on baptismal date. I'm getting really excited for the 5 of November, we should have two families baptized that day. It will be awesome!
I have to go now. I'm about to get booted off.
Much love,
Elder J Green.
