What's new? Not a whole lot. I'm doing great. I know now that I'm going to be here in Bloomingdale until July, so that will be just short of 6 months in Bloomingdale at least. Maybe president will let me stay longer, who knows? Ugh, physically not so great though, I broke 200 lbs a few weeks ago. Since then, all I've done is bike everywhere. I think I'm back down to about 185. Hoping to lose more. I have been So out of shape. The biking is awesome.
And about me not eating... no worries there. Lets put it this way, I am in the SPANISH program. They have more food at any given social activity than even the Greens. And if they invite you to come do service or something along those lines, you can expect to be fed more than you can handle. It's nuts. You can also plan on your mouth being on fire. Take grandpa's hot chili, now put jabanero pepers in it. (If you aren't familiar with those, they are tiny and orange and not meant for human consumption)
Today is transfer day and one of the Elders in Schaumburg is now training, but other than that, not much new. Maybe new clothes today. Oh and you remember me telling you about Alfredo, the guy with all the health problems? Really cool story to follow up on what happened with that.
We finally got back in contact with our investigator, Alfredo. He's a really great guy. We started to talk to him and ask him follow-up questions. It was obvious he'd started to read the Book of Mormon. When we asked him how far he'd read, he said that he had read all of 1 Nephi and was starting on 2 Nephi. That's better than any of my past investigators. He also recognizes the spirit that it brings into his life. He said that he feels like his mind is clear and he can remember the scriptures better than anything. He then told us the story of Nephi till the promised land as completely as any lifelong member. In our next appointment with him, we plan to give him a baptismal date.
The work of God is so cool. This guy's life is changing and not because of us. Sure we gave him the book and helped him get animated to read it, but the Spirit was the driving force in his resolve, and the Book gives him the power to keep going. He also asked a blessing from us, to help him with his medical problems. We are going to see miracles with him, I know it.
I love you a lot. I've got to go, my companion has been sitting bored for almost an hour now.
I'd really love an end to the drought of letters. If the children wouldn't mind writing me that'd be great. I did write them letters, but it sounds like they are lost in transit. I'll send more tonight.
I love you, miss all of you (when I have time to), and pray for you all every day, and in my heart every moment.
Con Amor,
Elder Green
(P.S. Thank the primary and the Sunday School for their letters for me. I'm going to reply individually to the Sunday School, but I don't know if I have the time for the whole primary)
